What is Acupressure?

Acupressure, an ancient healing practice, is based on the principle of restoring balance to the body's energy flow. It is a form of touch therapy that involves applying pressure to specific points on the body to release blocked energy and promote relaxation.

In traditional Chinese medicine, it is believed that our bodies contain a life force energy called Qi (pronounced "chee"). This energy flows through channels or meridians throughout the body, and when it becomes blocked, it can lead to pain, illness, and disease.

Acupressure works by applying gentle pressure to specific points along the meridians to unblock the flow of energy and restore balance to the body. It is believed that each acupressure point corresponds to a specific organ or body function, and by stimulating these points, the body can heal itself.

Studies have shown that acupressure can be effective in reducing pain, anxiety, and depression, as well as improving sleep quality and overall well-being. It has also been found to be helpful in managing conditions such as obesity, nausea, and headaches.

Unlike acupuncture, which uses needles to stimulate acupressure points, acupressure is a non-invasive technique that can be easily learned and practiced at home. It is a safe and natural way to promote healing and balance in the body, and is a great alternative or complementary therapy to traditional Western medicine.
